MY NEW BOOK PROJECT - MAITLAND'S RACIST GARDEN GNOME

My next book, ‘Maitland’s Racist Garden Gnome’, is answering:
- the heritage listing of the ‘Little Black Boy’ in Maitland’s High Street
- the subjective opinion piece by Kevin Short and Chas Keys at the Maitland: Our Place, Our Stories blog titled Jocko Graves: Maitland’s ‘Little Black Boy’

These are my initial thoughts on the scope of the book.
- Essential methodological tools for historical research and evaluation
- Essential criteria in order to qualify as an historian
- Racist context of lawn jockeys in the USA during the Revolutionary War and the centrality of negro slaves
- The history of the fountain hitching post
- The myth of Jocko Graves
- Logical fallacies used in relation to both the physical fountain hitching post and the non-physical myth of Jocko Graves.
